I am a Melbourne-based strategic UI / UX designer who has spent the past 9 years working for agencies and businesses helping craft creative solutions.


After graduating with a double-degree (Bachelor of Business and Bachelor of Arts), majoring in Multimedia and eCommerce at Victoria University, I began designing and developing for various clients including the Big Day Out and 170 Russell. My love of music bled into photography where I also shot live music for a number of publications including the Australian Rolling Stone. I gained a great deal of understanding about photography — composition, art-direction, lighting, and gear with the countless gigs I shot.

However, I always loved the web and digital, so my journey detoured towards teaching. I began sessional teaching and lecturing for Victoria University and LaTrobe, providing students the fundamentals of web design and development. I really enjoyed my time teaching, as it was always a joy to see students learn and improve. I still keep in contact with many of them.

Not long after teaching, I joined the team at August. I learnt a great deal about agency life, the power of teamwork, the collaboration required to achieve quality work. I began as a front-end developer but moved into design as I found the challenges more rewarding. During my time, I worked with clients such as the ABC, Lexus, Snowgum, ANAM and LaTrobe University and our team won the 2011 Australian Mobile Awards for the LaTrobe Enrollment app which I was lead designer on.

Next, I worked for digital agency Snowball One Australia, the Australian arm of Tangent Snowball in the UK. With a lean, agile Australian team, I was the Senior UI/UX Designer championing design-thinking and strategy for the entire life-cycle of a project. This included running kick-off meetings, UX workshops and activities, liaising and educating clients, creating final art, through to working with front-enders in the browser and user testing.

Clients included Bookworld, The Chocolate Box, Vodafone and Dimeo.

Currently, I am working for MYOB in Melbourne (and Sydney on occasion) as their Senior Visual Designer across their entire product range. Consistency is one of the big projects at the moment and I, along with the design team, hope to align the products better moving forward.

On being a designer

Over my career thus far, I have found the best work comes out of collaboration — with your peers, users, and clients. Getting regular feedback from all these entities help shape the most accessible, creative, and strongest solutions to the problems at hand.

Staying humble, open, and gaining insights from individuals far smarter than myself is what shapes me into the designer I am today. Constantly learning and trying to better myself is what I value most.

Above all, look sideways, incorporate progressive design strategies and don’t be a dick.
